Product Development & Sourcing Coordinator

About the Role
The Black Esquire Collective is seeking a highly organized, fashion-minded Product Development & Sourcing Coordinator to help bring upcoming collections from vision to production. This role is ideal for someone with experience in apparel sourcing, fashion manufacturing coordination, or product development who understands quality, detail, and brand integrity.
You will work directly with the Founder to translate creative direction into physical garments and ensure timelines and vendor relationships are managed efficiently.
Key Responsibilities

Source high-quality blanks, fabrics, trims, and manufacturing partners

Identify and coordinate with local and domestic vendors for embroidery, patches, flocking, screen printing, and appliqué work

Manage garment sampling, production timelines, and cost quotes

Provide recommendations on materials and production methods aligned with brand standards

Oversee quality control and approve samples before production

Support rollout planning for upcoming seasonal drops

Maintain vendor communication and track deliverables

Research fashion trends, silhouettes, and sourcing options that align with the brand
Qualifications

Experience in fashion production, apparel development, sourcing, or merchandising

Strong vendor and supplier coordination skills (local connections a plus)

Understanding of garment construction, embellishment techniques, and fabric types

Excellent organization, follow-through, and timeline management

Ability to work independently while executing someone else’s vision

Chicago-based or able to attend in-person meetings when needed
Preferred Skills

Compensation
Compensation will depend on experience and may begin as a paid contract or part-time engagement with potential for growth into a permanent position.
